1998 Base model H23A swap

I was just wondering if it is possible to swap a vtec H23A into my base model prelude. I can get them alot cheaper and they make around the same as my motor. I need to swap my motor its not worth rebuilding.

i have seen lots of h22 motors on craigslist and ebay. you would have to change to obd1 and get a new ECU if you changed to an H23 i believe.

just make sure you look into the total cost of each before you do the swap

Re: 1998 Base model H23A swap

remember that you have to rebuild that new engine also

...and h23 vtec is not worth of paying much more than jdm h22

yeah theres warrants BUT usually everything starts leaking oil after the warrant is over... so when you have the engine out, REBUILD IT, its much
easier to do everything right from the beginning than then start to find the oil leaks when the engine is in

Re: 1998 Base model H23A swap

Mike, PM ogsmakdade with any questions. Me and him were just talking about this for your car.

Whichever motor you get.... only change things that do not involve removing the head....so basic seals and timing belt... we don't want another incident :P

I'm sure that all the seals you replaced on the other motor are good enough to reuse since the car never ran with them on for more than a few minutes
