Icon5 Is A Real Intake Better?

I am a new proud owner of a 93 Prelude. Well when i got the car it was already lowered, and also has a test pipe. The one thing that I'm not sure of is the intake. All it is, is a short intake elbow with a cone filter on it... that is it. It's a total of like 6" long. Would a true short ram or even a cold air intake be better?

That intake u has is an eBay blue light special designed to sell to Kia because racecar. All it does is suck in hot air so it's a hai Lolz. Just ask one of your racecar buds and see if they have old intake piping lying around and run the piping to the front of your lude

Re: Is A Real Intake Better?

any intake is a real intake lol, but like others here are saying, get an oem, get piping and make yourself one, routed to the passenger side, to the left of the battery is where the filter should sit, but if you have an aftermarket filter in the engine bay it sucks hot air. the oem one sits there but it has a heat shield around it to keep the air cool, you could put it through the hole next to the battery for a cold air intake, that would act as the shield, but if you live in a place that commonly floods when it rains, dont do it. you risk hydrolocking your engine.

this topic has been covered numeral times before, use the search button, and google, and compare the 2, and then decide what you want to do.

Re: Is A Real Intake Better?

oem is best. but what you havr is not hurting your car in a way you shouldn't drive it provided you mean daily driver stuff. but taking in hot air makes it a bit less powerful therefore if you are acting like mario andretti on your slurpee runs then yes switch it out.
you say it has a filter. that's real important to keep it clean. every time you change your oil hold it up to the sky or other light source. it's best to see light in the nooks n crannies.
