Icon5 Is this a pretty decent deal? New to preludes.

I found this car on craigslist and I loved it. I'm not sure If i like the body kit seems more sleek than ricey. The only concern I really have is he says it burns a little oil.. I'm new to preludes... he says its due to have a jg pr race head and total seal piston rings along with the engine only having 1k miles on it and the rings haven't set yet and the engine isn't broken in? Is that accurate or is he just trying to pawn me off on a "too good to be true" story here... I'm including a list of parts and some images I'd love some quick responses due to possibly going to pick the car up on monday. We've settled on the price of 4000

Body kit is kinda ugly not feeling it but other then that it's a real well kept clean 3rd gen.

any insight on the oil burning portion? I can always swap it back to the original body style that's not really a worry.

What are total seal piston rings? From what I have learned about rings is you don't want the ends to meet or else it will break your ringlands. Which would make you need new pistons.

As for the oil burning, find out who built the motor and ask about the ring gaps. I believe the bottom is supposed to be bigger than the top. but I could be wrong you would have to look that up. Also make sure it has been its been fully warmed up and then the head bolts have been tightened again. This is only if they are new though they will stretch and will need alittle bit of tightening.

Re: Is this a pretty decent deal? New to preludes.

Just looked at the pics. It's not that bad, just needs the mesh gone in the bumper and turbo it and put a nice fmic there and some nice fogs in the square holes. The rear bumper idk about that lol. Drive it and see if it smokes, when you meet him start it up and let it warm up then drive it then let it sit idling and see how bad it is. Ask if it got new valve stem seals.

thanks. The back bumper is definitely not staying on long ha. There not a lot of nice preludes around here especially 3rd gens so id figure i'd jump on it. and from what he's told me everything has been replaced. he's kind of being a prick about all the questions which leads me to believe he's trying to pull a fast one. apparently it only blows a little black out at start up then it's fine.

You can find the stock bumpers/sides on Craigslist or any junkyards.

Re: Is this a pretty decent deal? New to preludes.

woulda cost you a lot more than 4 grand to do all that.
if you wanna instant hot rod like project 95 said then sure go for it. if i was looking for a super mod i would and then build it backwards more towards stock keeping the hidden performance stuff and selling all the eye candy/cop alerting stuff to fund my super sleeper project..but that's just me.
