On to the next one

It's been almost a full year since I've sold my Prelude (back here: :::andrewcjduong::: 1999 Type-SH) and I've been holding off mainly because of school, money and the fact that I couldn't decide which car I wanted. Well I finally got around to selling the winter beater I drove for the year (a 2001 Acura CL-S) and I've already been 4 days without a car and I've gone psycho (not really, drove around parents minivan and 2012 Jetta TDI)

So here are my options. These cars are all well maintained and have a clean title. They're all owned by my friends that I trust so I basically know I'm getting a good deal. I know this isn't about Prelude's but since you guys were my first car forum and the Prelude was my first car, I'd say help a fella out.

2001 Lexus IS300 Automatic 165,000km Grey on Black Interior (Asking $8,500)
2004 Acura TSX Automatic 220,000km White on Black (Asking $6,000)
2004 Acura TL 6-Speed w/ Brembo & LSD 180,000km White on Black (Asking $9,500)

All cars are stock... alright shoot! :)

Re: On to the next one

Wow great choices. All 3 of those we're cars I wanted... but I somehow settled on a bb6. If I we're you I would take the TL. The only thing that would stop me is paying 9,500. (I know that's a good deal but I wouldn't have 9500 lol.) But if that's not a problem is seems like the TL would be your best choice, 6 speed 180k km? Awesome deal because those would be running idk maybe 13 or 14k in the dealership. Other than that I think all those cars are great and you wouldn't be making a bad choice picking either of them.

Re: On to the next one

You guys are all very supportive. I took into considering the gas mileage that I would get out of the vehicles as well as how I will be driving it in the winter this year and stuff like that. I'll be taking a look at the TL tomorrow to test drive and stuff and possibly put down an offer (hoping he'd take $8k but I really don't mind if it's $9,5) and then I'll have a project started on that car (slowly but probably more of a clean daily car). I'll post pics of the vehicle if I do buy it.

If anyone else has anything they'd suggest then shoot. Even a recommendation for another car, I'm still shopping around. Looking for under $10k 4 door and a bit sporty lol.

non of those are really under 10k price range. I've thought of a BMW, maybe the older 328i but I've heard terrible transmission stories and the cost of fixing them. Subaru's are amazing but if I were to get one, I'd have to be a WRX or STi and those also kill to maintain, along with insuring myself (a 19 year old student) would probably cost a fortune. Evo's are expensive and hard to find in Canada (we didn't get them till recently)

Re: On to the next one

It really seems that the TL is your best choice for under 10k. You're definitely right about insurance for the STI. Would be very expensive! Haha. And awesome, keep us posted would love to see it!

Also, I stay away from older BMWs. Prone to problems and than it'll cost you a fortune to pay for your repairs...

And assuming you get alotta snow in Canada, I'd say the IS is immediately outta the running due to that sole factor. Butttt if your not gonna drive it in the snow, than it doesn't matter.

Yes I'll be driving it in the winter. I drove a IS350 and it was RWD, didn't have too much problems with that in the winter. I wouldn't think the IS300 would be worse but I've never tried.

I'll have an update by tonight on what I decided most likely.
