Icon9 White smoke coming from engine.

Hello people, i'm new to the forums so i might have a little bit of trouble. I own a 2001 honda prelude h22. But I just painted my valve cover and I forgot to replace the valve cover gasket and im not sure if this is the whole problem but i found some oil next to the valve cover and whenever i drive, it emits white smoke and has a smelly odor. Is the gasket the problem? The engine temperature is fine and there is no leak next to the radiator. Any help?

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

That's a coolant leak...white smoke out the tail pipe or under the hood is coolant...did you over flow the rad of over fill the overfill tank?

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

Well, I checked last night and the coolant levels are fine. It's actually some sort of blue liquid dripping onto the hot parts of the engine and causing steam. It's small leaks in some hoses, should i use bond on it? Or should I buy a brand new hose?

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

White smoke = burning coolant.
Blue'ish smoke = burning oil.

But blue LIQUID.... there is blue coolant out there, but i'm pretty sure Honda's should only take green coolant.

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

Yeah, thank god I only put green coolant in there. The coolant levels are fine also. Some extra information is that the leak is from a hose that's between the valve cover and fuel injection and it spews out blue liquid, it stopped spewing liquid when I turned the A/C off.

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

Also, there is a hose and metal tube from the EGR lift sensor that looks like it's leaking oil, is that possible?

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

Yeah dude you need someone to actually look that over for you. The hose going from you VC I assume is your pcv valve outlet. As for the hose from your egr that should be a vacuum hose and there shouldn't be oil coming from it. Take it in. Sounds like you've got some funky problems.

Re: White smoke coming from engine.

Sure will!

But, another thing I found out is the EGR valve o-rings inside can get worn down and start to push out a bit of oil from the pressure inside. I think that's what's happening to me.
