Serious Water Leakage

In my area we have had some serious rain lately and now itís showing up in my car. My trunk is soaked, my back seats gush water when you sit on them, and the water is starting to show up on the floor in the back on the passenger side.

If anyone has any ideas as to where to start looking for the leaks please let me know, and also whether or not the gaskets on my tail lights can be replaced easily on my own or if I should take it into a shop to be done. Thanks.

Re: Serious Water Leakage

Tail light gaskets, I'll put money on it.

You can easily change them yourself with a 10mm wrench I believe.

Re: Serious Water Leakage

Your sunroof drains may be clogged. To test this; Open your sunroof while on an incline and pour water in the "tray" around the inside of the sunroof (on the end of the car facing downward) and look for water to come out near the wheels. then turn the car around and do the same thing to the other end. If no water comes out - your tubes are clogged.

There's a writeup around here somewhere and a video on youtube if you need more information....

Re: Serious Water Leakage

What they said, happened to me a while back. You can make your own tailight gaskets by using some kind of foam and make sure it is thick enough(you can by it from any arts and craft store, like michaels, aaron brothers, joh anns arts and crafts)or just by the oem tail light gasket.

Re: Serious Water Leakage

well the trunk is gutted, and all the trim is drying out finally. Had to use the steam cleaner to get the water out of the carpets. And as for the advice... I ordered some gaskets from Honda they will be in on Friday and I'm going to use a compressor to check the sunroof drain. And I've discovered my rear window isn't sealed properly so I will have to go in this weekend and get it looked at. What a mess!! Wish me luck and thanks for all the help guys !!

Re: Serious Water Leakage

Same thing happened to me. My taillight gaskets were fine. I thought my rear window seal was messed up. But turns out my sunroof drains were all clogged up with dirt. Use a pipe cleaner or small brush and no more lake in the trunk.
