Icon5 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

hi, i just want to get your opinion guys.
i have a 73K miles 98 lude that im looking to trade for a 119K miles 98 240sx.
obviously the 240 has more miles in it, which can be a bad thing. ??
the 240 is bone stock and so is the lude except for apexi muffler, 18"momo rims (which i'm planning to keep)

should i pull the trigger or just keep my prelude?
i've always wanted a 240. when i couldn't find me a 240, i went for a prelude cz i needed transportation ryt away.
what to do.... what to do......

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

Keep the Lude, you'll thank me (and I'm sure many others that will chime in) later. 73k on a Lude is very low and considered rare. The 240 has more than likely been beaten on by its previous owner(s).

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

The 240'a are nice and rear wheel drive. If that's what you wanted originally and the car is in decent shape then that's what I would do. I got a Prelude because that's what I wanted, I didn't settle. That's what everyone should do, get what they want..

I wouldn't do it either.

save up for something better than sell your lude if you want a RWD.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

I'm not going to lie man kouki 240s are sick looking cars with a lot of potential but as previously stated they are beat on pretty bad. With the low miles on the lude it's worth keeping unless you have your heart set on the drift monster.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

Yeah man the 240 would be pretty sick to have but if your preludes your only car your better off keeping your prelude. I'm not just saying this because I have a prelude but because its been the most reliable car I've driven. Besides you know for fact your gonna try and drift the 240 and it might not end up pretty. If you really want it though by all means hammer down.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

It's funny how everyone seems to think they know the condition of the 240 and that it has to be beaten on. Again, this is a Prelude forum and you're going to get mostly bias opinions around here. Get what you want and don't mind what anyone else says. Don't settle for something when it's not what you really want.

Good luck.

Ewww 240... there okay. Drifters car is the only thing I would get one but i would choose many other rwd over a 240.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 97-98 240sx's are the rarest of all the 240sx's finding one stock is like finding a Unicorn. I have only seen like 5 in person. Funny thing i saw one Today but its been like 7-8 years since i have seen one. I have driven across the country. I love Preludes but the Kouki is just a Rare as car that can't be taken lightly. I guarantee you will never get a chance like this again.
I say go for it! Only thing better would be a JDM Prelude Type S.

He's right most people here will say to keep it! Besides you said the only reason you bought the lude was because you wanted transportation. So trade it but make sure its what you want but. Remember if you do you will get more trade offers for the Kouki for its rarity. I know a couple of people who would trade their 350z's for a Kouki 240sx in a heart beat. But in the end of the day your going to be driving the thing on a daily basis so its up to you.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

It may sound bias but i know about 6 people with 240's. Everyone of them beat there cars and go through rear tires like crazy. now they do keep up well on maintence so they all got nice running cars. I'd defintly buy one of their 240's because of how well maintained they keep their cars. Just make sure you check the car out before you finalize a trade. I'd have to say get what you want. 240's are nice and fun to drive. I'm trying to pick up one from my buddies garage that was left but he won't let me get my hands on it.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

i've wanted a s14 kouki before the prelude too. i say go for it. mileage means ****. its all on owner's responsibility to take care of the engine. have it inspected because like everyone else has said, they do get beat on a lot. but since its stock maybe not so much.

Re: 5th gen Prelude VS 240sx kouki

thanks for the reply guys. i appreciate it. also, im sorry if i posted something about a 240 in a prelude website.

im currently studying what's the best move and arrange a meeting with the 240 owner. the owner looks like a dad who doesn't use the car for drifting. the con's of the 240 are:
Cons:
CEL-P1446 Evap Canister
Missing/Cracked Radio Bezel

thank you guys.

Don't be sorry about anything but just be aware of where you are when asking for an opinion about getting another car If that's the only issues with that car you're in great shape. Good luck with your new 240

240s would be fun to drive. If you had a daily driver and intend to push it to its limits then go for it. Just don't be stupid and do it around others

what you have to say is cool. i dont mind.
don't get me wrong, prelude h22 are awesome. you are right on the pros it has, no question about that. i enjoy the VTEC as well.

however, what "you couldn't have back in the day" is never too late, you had to make decisions to get a car that's available before. now that the car you wanted is here, why not give it a chance? is it wrong to give it a chance? i guess not. i'll get a car of my choice whatever that choice may be, to make myself satisfied not YOU or anyone else.
