Towing Capacity?

whats the towing capacity for a 4th gen lude with a 2.3... the reason why i am asking is because i recently bought a jet ski and realized that the only truck we have is always being used by my dad and the other one wont pass emissions because of a huge hesitation that has been a pain to find the problem.

Re: Towing Capacity?

searched and the average weight of a jet ski is 500-600lbs. does that seem right?

that, plus the weight of the trailer.

so close to 1000lbs? plus two passengers which can easily add up to 300lbs.

do-able, but will put a strain on the engine/chassis.

Re: Towing Capacity?

yeah thats about the weight give or take a 100lbs.. my trailer sits on a wheel so it can be moved and i can move it fairly easy so im not 100% sure about the weight of everything.

Re: Towing Capacity?

First and foremost... what kinda ski!?!?

Second, about half-way down, post #11
May sound stupid but...how to transport a hood?

So yes, 1 ski will be no problem, just make sure your clutch, brakes, suspension, and engine are all in good condition cuz it's gonna put a lot more stress on all those components.

Re: Towing Capacity?

lmao!

Here the pics that I hauled.

I hauled dual jetskis, tow dolly pulled a ef si, and 5x8 trailer with no problem.

For 4th gen prelude, you can haul up to a ton and half. Nothing more. If you do, say bye-bye to your tranny and trailer hitch.

That isn't so bad but still poor, poor Prelude. I would never submit my baby to that. Is that a Mugen license plate? Where are the Mugen goodies?

Re: Towing Capacity?

I only haul very once in a while. Nothing heavy. The most heavy I've hauled is tow dolly with an EF Si but it is only pulled. My lude is beast but I drive extra careful and slow tho. Now I don't use trailer hitch much due I sold the trailer a while back but will use the hitch whenever I need it. Everyone has their reasons need to use hitch.

Re: Towing Capacity?

Mine's a Harbor Freight kit. Steel, but I'm not looking to tow that much. I think the heaviest part is the axle assembly.
