unusually long paint job?

alright, so I let this place in sd paint my 5th gen flush spoiler...this place got good reviews, and some friends recommended it.

I dropped my spoiler and got quoted on the 15 of may. They told me it would take 3days to a week to finish. Its now June 5th and still no spoiler.

I called twice already, first time they said the paint didnt some out right so they want to redo it. Alright that's cool, I appreciate that.

Second time, they say they were missing some "parts" to redo it and the shipment never came in and they would give me a call by the end of the week.

New week, still no call...I don't wanna keep calling like a creeper or just show up for no reason if my piece isnt done....

What would you guys do?

Re: unusually long paint job?

from my experiences being a nice guy on the phone doesn't work. get really pissed off (even if you arent) and tell them that waiting 3 weeks isn't acceptable for something so small.

Even with a mess-up, it shouldn't take longer than 2 weeks MAX.

Re: unusually long paint job?

Mabye they lost or damaged it and are trying to find a replacement. Go down there and demand it back, right that moment, finished or not. See what they've got. Might put a recorder in your pocket first so you can take that to the attorney's office when they don't have your spoiler. Good luck man.

Re: unusually long paint job?

I second the other guys' opinions. I'd show up in person, without notice, to pick up the spoiler. They've had more than enough time to finish the job. 3 weeks is ridiculous for such a small part. My guess is, they have bigger fish to fry and your spoiler is not that important. Good luck, man.

Re: unusually long paint job?

Grow a pair and go in there yourself. The phone obviously isn't working. Go to the shop and tell them you want to see your spoiler. If it isn't done then tell them you're going to take it as is and have someone else do it and you want a refund.

Re: unusually long paint job?

Don't raise but i recommend going to the shop and ask to talk to the manager or owner. Don't tell anyone else but the manager or owner on whats going on. Who knows they will probably give you a discount for your troubles. At lease that what i would do to show good customer service.

Re: unusually long paint job?

thats completely rediculous, like everyone else says, go and check to make sure they still have your spoiler! Then make sure you talk to someone high up and tell them how you feel, try and say any other shop wouldn't have taken that long or cost that much but you wanted to use them because you heard good reviews, always makes them think like "**** this dude was using us because he really wanted us to paint his spoiler and we just screwed him around" and who knows, a discount might appear on the invoice! Good Luck!

Re: unusually long paint job?

so I called again, and the guy was pretty straight up with me. He said he tried 3-4 times and he just can't get it right (cause of the pearl) so they sent it to their specialty paint shop...which is weird because they're an auto repair shop themselves? He did offer a discount for my trouble although not exactly sure how much of a discount.

he said by the end of the week again -_-

if not, i'm definitely showing up there to get it back.

Re: unusually long paint job?

finally got my wing back and not really all that happy.

they did discount 75 bucks from the total bill, however the quality of work done wasn't the best. I see little "hair" stuck in the clear coat, a little crack already and they got some paint on my old wing and also the brake light which I have to come back and leave my car on monday cause the "guy who does that" wasnt there to install it.

damnit.

If you let them walk all over you they will. Get the BBB's phone number and talk to them before you go back. Ask them what you can do and then tell the shop that painted your shiz that you're not happy and show them the flaws. If they decide that they don't care I would post an ad on craigslist and call the BBB again and file a complaint. Post there name along with pictures on every website that you know of and your story. Also make sure you tell them you're going to do all of this if they don't make this right. You have recourse, just how far are you willing to take it?
