Timming belt cover

My lower timing belt cover is leaking at the very bottom due to a small pinch in the gasket. Can I just gasket maker to fix it until I take all of it apart and replace the gasket?

Re: Timming belt cover

Well the timing belt cover doesnt seal oil in thats not what it is there for it is there to keep stuff from getting into the belt. The oil is leaking from one of your seals. either a cam seal, crank seal or balancer seal.

^^ this exactly.

Since you gotta tear it all apart anyway to diagnose/replace whichever seal it is, you might as well do an entire timing belt job, including water pump, tensioners, and all the other seals too.

Re: Timming belt cover

I'll put e$20 on the balance shaft retainer/seal.

That's twenty e-dollars.
