Won't turn over, weird noise

I'm having a **** attack right now.

So, I went to go for a drive. I turned the key car chugs once, then a repetitive quite audible clicking noise. I look over to see the oil light is on as well as the battery light. The stereo works fine, but its been sitting for about a week and a half and the last time it ran beautifully.

Could it be something as simple as the battery being low, and not providing enough power to the oil pump? My oil is full and I am only 100 kms over my recommended oil change but thats never been a problem.

The starter motor has never been a problem and I'm not hearing just the one click, or the whining sound they make when they go.

Any idea if it could be something horrid before I go and buy a new battery?

What do you mean by chug?? Like it started but then died right after? I know the title says wont turn over, but does it crank? Won't turn over has different meanings to different people so I'm just trying to be on the same page as you. If you suspect your battery I wouldn't just replace it without testing it. A lot of autozone and advance autos will test the battery free of charge. Just take it out of the car and bring it down there and they usually do all the work.

yah I goofed on the title a little, It turned over.

After some close examination I noticed my positive terminal had almost completely corroded away, And that the loud clicking was the terminal arcing on the battery

The noise was horrid though I tell you. I thought a cylinder had seized or something.

That would do it. Now you know to maintain those terminals. Keeping them clean makes a lot of difference and less unwanted resistance.

Re: Won't turn over, weird noise

prob just the battery.

im having the same problem right now...boosted my car the other day from not being in use during the winter and it fired up. went for a quick drive then left it for a day and a half and now it wont start again and makes the clicking sound.

stupid battery probably doesn't want to hold a charge anymore, or I need to go on a much longer drive...

If you're going to get a battery then get the DIE HARD from SEARS or a yellow Optima! Keep the reciept just incase you decided to return which I doubt.

Then once you connect the batt to run it a few miles to circ the charge flow within the batt bc i'm sure it settled from the batt sittin there unused for that long period of time
