wiring problems

Just wondering if anyone has had the same kind of problems I've had. I have a 92 Si and have no power windows, moon roof, blower motor and the lights on the switching for the heat/air dont work. The car runs and I have headlights, high beams, dash lights, radio, blinkers. I have checked the fuses and all is good. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Re: wiring problems

Dude, you don't know wiring problems till you have seen my car (bought it a couple months ago and havent had time to fix it all) its a clusterf***... anyway, there are several relays, some under the dash so check those in addition to all of the switches for the things you are having problems with. Also, check the wiring to both fuse boxes, there could be a short somewhere. I'm not an expert on wiring and whatnot but I hope this helps, cheers

Re: wiring problems

I'm kinda thinkin that it may be either the fuse box under the hood or the ignition switch. The fuse box is questionable because i got my meter out and checked the voltage on the main wires going in, it's an analog, and the needle went the opposite way(neg). but there are fuses on there that controls the lights (and they work) so if its not working then only part of its not. I was reading another post and another guy had a similar problem but the total opposite stuff wasnt working and it was his ignition switch on the column. I'm gonna relace that before going any further. I'll let you know

Re: wiring problems

If the ignition switch was goin bad, you would be having problems starting the car, and the engine randomly cutting out. So I doubt that's your problem, since that only controls starting/stopping the engine.

Sounds like you gotta coupla problems; the lights on the HVAC not working is usually a loose solder joint on the HVAC board. If you try punching the dash above the HVAC and the lights come back on......

Windows and moonroof.... I'd start by checking the wiring starting at the switches, see if there's any ghetto/bad wiring anywhere.

Re: wiring problems

I would start by downloading the free repair guide provided for us at the top of the Gen specific forum.

you could have shorted or cut wires, a bad ground (a LOT of the acc functions you described are grounded to the same location/ground circuit) or somebody's hack job, security install and removal, etc, etc.

it takes a DMM, time, and patience to track down each circuit. The good news is that most of your problems have a troubleshooting guide in the manual to assist you.
