Re: Accord Speed problem

Most likely your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is on its way out.

Re: Accord Speed problem

It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a different speed in the same gear at the same RPM (unless you change trannies or gearing/FD, etc.). Your tach isn't reporting an accurate RPM for some reason. I'd say VSS as well.

Jesus-tap-dancing-christ why do ppl even bother making threads before even checking to see what the CEL is??? There's CLEARLY something wrong with the car and it's trying to tell you!!!
If my CEL came on, I would IMMEDIATELY pull over to see what it was, cuz you never know if its something major and your engine is about to blow. Instead, ppl drive around forever with it on, wondering "why isn't my car working properly?!?!?!" :smashfreak B:

I'll bet you its a code 17 CEL.

Re: Accord Speed problem

Personally, i have the 97 accord and i can say this iis a reliable car only one time when i experienced issue with regards to idling. Not so sure but the mechanic i have consulted has made the conclusion and according to him it's either the tranny is great or failed. In this case have the thought that your transmission might went into issue commonly P0730 failure code. Failure with automatic transmission & gear shift. My father and I both had this problem with two different honda accords. Anyway, there is always a replacement side as honda accord car parts are common on local shops as well as online retailers.

dont drive it anymore but maybe it would have helped to say the car was auto and it had the h23 tranny instead the f series there is nothing wrong with the speed cables and tranny its something else you feel the car loose power! you stomp it and it acts slow as **** but still goes..........drive it for a hour or 2 car ****ing flys and hits 65-70mph at 2500 rpms after 4-5 hours itll be at like 3200 rpms at that
