Camshaft distributor noise.. Help!!

I always find great info on here but right now I'm stumped

I've got a 92 prelude SI with h23a1 recently did a head gasket job on. After the work it sounded like hell in my top end. Replaced a few valves timing kit water pump expected I to come back great but there is a bad rattling with a screwdriver to my ear I traced It to the area where he dizzy meets the front camshaft. I've triple checked valve adjustments and it seems this area is the only questionable part of the head IMO. It seems the key where the dizzy lines into the cam has been worn and no longer fits into the cam the car still drives so I'm wondering if the noise is he key and camshaft not connecting as they should is this possible anyone had a running driving car where the cam and dizzy weren't conneccted properly? It also seems like the cam slides further than it should side to side across the head, maybe tightening the dizzy when the key wasn't in right could have pushed the camshaft towards the timing gears causing the tbelt to rub on the timing cover ? The housing over the Camshaft near the dizzy has visable wear from it looks like the cam slides inside the housing is this normal wear? I've had the valve cover off 6 times since the head job and am almost ready to do the whole job over but was hoping I could get some solid answers and not have to redo everything again maybe just maybe all I would need is a new dizzy key line it up right and my noise should be gone right? Thanks guys
