Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

Well i don't want to get the Cold air since in the city that i live in tends to get kinda floody when it rain heavily and i don't want to risk it. and im not getting the Short ram since its little hp gains. As for the headers what do you recommend?

Save up for a fresh H22 engine, and enjoy your good gas mileage, until the time is right. Also take out the "Y" in THEY.

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

thanks for the Typo! And as for the H22A1 i am just i don't plan on getting it for a year or two. I plan on that F22A1 lasting a alot more miles. I'm not going to do the swap until the Motor goes bad. I thought a pulley upgrade would help you with gas mileage? Same with the Headers, Exhaust ,and Intake?

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

DC header- 0-5 HP
Short ram intake, cold air intake- 0-1 HP
Exhaust- 2-8 HP depending
Pulley- Not sure of any gains
AEM cam GEARS- Adjust timing

If you are keeping the f22a1, anything worth while at this point for the motor would be a turbo.

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

HP gains off the pulley kit are negligable at best. If you're running a race car and need every little bit then go for it. If you're planning on a H conversion don't waste your money on the F. If you're planning on boosting the F (which if done properly you could end up with more power for the same money) then those mods sound almost worthwhile.

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

alright. Listen to they guys and don't waste your money on AEM parts (intake), take out your intake resonator and get a K&N air filter, bam saved you a couple hundred bucks already. Adjustable cam gears ? I don't see a point of those. Getting pulleys probably won't do anything. Save for a H22 you will probably have more fun playing with that than the f22 you have. Boost really is the only thing the f22 is good for or you can use it to save gas

Just make sure your cam gears are atleast 5 bolted.

pulley kits are kinda mysterious... I cant imagine that you would gain much there, I mean I have one, but dunno how much they help. IF they help. Some guy said that in track they make his laps like 0.01 second faster :D

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

Honestly my advice would be to just do maintenance if its not up to date. and save money for the h swap. It will be much more beneficial in the long run. I know you prolly dont wanna spend your hard earned money on maintenance, but at 185k, stuff starts going downhill easily.

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

Thanks for the advice on the cam gears and pulleys. As for the Intake, one of the reasons i want to get the V2 is because its an intake that will fit both my f22a1 and will fit h22a1 with no modifications. Same goes with the Cat Back! so if anything i saving my money instead of buying to intake for two different motors.

By the way has anyone actually used a V2 intake? or are you just joining band wagon of people who hate AEM products Period. I have looked about 20 different reviews from various forums, blogs and websites and only 2 out of the 20 have actually had bad reviews one due to bad shipping and the other from a broken bolt. Please Convince ME! Not no its not good Period!

I have AEM CAI.
its not any hate or anything. its just simple physics: cold air is thicker than warm. so theres "more" that air when its colder. and those ram air intakes take air from engine bay where its warm.
warm air = less power

when people change their stock intake to that aem v2, it makes their engine roar more "in cool way" so people think its nice to have. but if it sounds good
it doesnt mean it brings you any gains there. and people want to think that they have made good investment but in real life they lose some hp in the
change of cool sound -> they make good review on that. thats the reality in that thing.

it could be whole difference thing if somebody would make a box for it, that it doesnt suck warm air from engine bay
one like:

but without this, its just waste of money and power

and throttle bodies are kinda useless with those mods what youre planning.

think instead this:

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

My boyfriend bought (I forget which brand, but it was around $300) an intake for his '07 Mazda 3, one of the brackets broke and left a hole in the pipe that was about the size of a 50 cent piece. That's when I decided I wasn't spending big bucks on an intake so I went to autozone, pieced the piping (Spectre?) together, and bought a K&N filter, all for a fraction of what I would have spent. Works just fine.

what more proof do you want.. its been tested on a dyno.. jdm type-s intake is probably best bang for your buck but any intake is gonna do the same thing

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

its good your wanting to do stuff to your car but everyone is right the amount of money spending on the v2 vs just the resonator delete and k&n filter is crazy there was one test that showed the k&n filter did a noticable difference vs the V2 but if you want the looks of it and dont mind spending the money the go for it, however f22's are nasty on boost man and if theres any internal parts for the f22 you want i highly highly highly reccomend bisimoto for that hes the f22 expert and inspired me when i had mine and still inspires me with every one of his builds. i miss my f22 no doubt about that but if i were to swap back to an f22 from an h22 id probably cry man the motor is night and day in power and the motors now a days really arent terriably expensive. especially after the mod list you spoke of. ( id consider an H swap if boost is not an option for the f22) good luck man!

f22 are nasty on boost, if i were you i would spend that h22 money on getting a solid turbo set up and call it a day. you would spend about the same amount of money and have more power.. win-win situation

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

As much flaming I'm about to get, here it goes: measure out the straight parts of the stock intake, go to home depot, and get PVC tubing for it, either 2.5 or 3 inch diameter. Then get a K&N filter to put at the end of it. That's about 80.00, and the joints are there too.

If you can get a type-s intake assembly off eBay, buy then oem drop in filter that is your very best bet.

Thanks! More info was all i was asking for. Better than don't get that, because that doesn't help me. As for me buying the pipping and it my self i really don't have the skillz to do that Go Figure! I'm a newbie when it comes to Intakes. Thats why i want to buy a Aftermarket one that just bolts on with little modification. Like i said i do know not to get the Short rams since i know about dense air and less dense air, yet i don't want the cold air since i get floods where i live at i don't want water to go in my intake

Re: What's your take on these Performance Mods for my BB4 Prelude S

i got ya, u just want one that has the after market look but still ends up ending right where the factory intake ends to the left of the battery, man honestly to get youby for a bit ebay piping then replace the filter with a k and n intake filter and sorry to spell out and but mykeyboard is f-ing up and wont let me use the and symbol lol but any way that will get u by for a good bit at a cheap cost and then u can decide turbo or what ever u want and if you do swap motors atleast u can still have ur nice little intake :)

Another reason why i want the V2 and not make my own pipping is because i plan to move back to cali and i know police their are extremely picky with the parts you put on your so instead of risking getting a ticket i will get a C.A.R.B approved intake. Beside ive heard they make the engine sound the amazing!

the only thing to for me to really worry about would be the apexi ws2 cat back. since its louder than stock. And it will be a $@#$ when i do the engine swap to a H22A1
