preventative maintenance

After owning my 99' for a few weeks, understanding the whole time i needed to change the oil. Finally get around to her today . . . AND

After F*@(ING with the oil plug for a solid 20 mintues, i'm wondering if it's gonna stay in one piece once i DO get it out. So i half round the sucker off with a box end . . . say "SCREW THIS" and beat a socket on it and take a breaker bar to it. So that's done and over, oil's a spillin out into my bucket. I wait for that to finish. Get after my filter and spin, spin, spin then out comes the left over . . . ALL OVER THE DAMN FLEX PIPE!! yah, thanks honda engineers for that one . . . gotta smell burning synthetic for the next few days. Finish up, wipe everything down, drop it off the jackstands and commence to fill up, check levels blah blah etc. I think to myself "hrmm pcv valve" So all is well, level's are good and i pluck the pcv out shake it around . . . hear NOTHING. Tap it on valve cover and shake again, hear a little bit of rattle, tap it again and stuff FALLS OUT OF IT!! Straight down to the parts house, pick another up and 4 bucks later all is well again.

long story short . . . anytime you think to check something that SHOULD be working. 99% of the time . . . it's NOT working. Ignorance is bliss, but ****e fuel mileage will make you complain about WTF do i have to keep puttin fuel in this thing?!?! AND it needs to be premium . . . that stuff AINT cheap!!

P.S. no gasket on the oil plug, hence it bein so DAMN tight. Tear off a flap from the oil filter box, gouge out a hole and thread the plug back through, VOILA oil plug gasket. Improvise, Overcome, Adapt.
