What Is This Thing?

I found this thing just hanging in my engine bay (previous owner wasnt the greatest) and i have no idea what it is. If its not important or can be bypassed i want to do so to clear room in my engine bay. Im going through and trying to make more room and clean up the engine bay because an H22 swap in a 93 doesnt leave much play room.

The two red (almost) circles lol are where it connects to, and the red dot is simply a red dot lol. accidental.

So if anyone could tell me what that is and if i can either get rid of it or where i should mount it that would be extremely helpful. Thanks for your time

Re: What Is This Thing?

looks to be an egr solenoid - but it's not plugged in. I would say just loop the lines - but double check by posting this in the 4th gen section. i'm not too familiar with obd1 cars such as your 93

Re: What Is This Thing?

Thanks for the input. I'll loop the lines and see how it does.

Re: What Is This Thing?

That almost looks like the one that controls the little butterfly in the intake resevoir.

Listen to this guy.

Definitely the IAB block and it controls secondary butterfly valves opening in your intake plenum.

Re: What Is This Thing?

Junking it = no more secondary butterflies? So the manifold would be always stuck with long runners/small plenum?

So is this the same as this...
ENG: How to remove air intake resonator - 5G Prelude
In this DIY after removing the intake resonator and lower air box I removed the butterfly valve controller.....it was not located under the IM....I just want to make sure I have not done something wrong!

Nope they're different. They just look very similar, if not identical.
