red or yellow?

Currently I have a crap napa battery with 650cca. It has died and I'm replacing it. I have two 10 inch subs with a 1200w amp, along with lighting for the car. So, not too much electronics, but more than normal. Any advice on which to get...optimal red top or yellow top.

Or relocate the battery to the trunk.....and add a second battery in the back to run the system...cleaner engine bay, better weight distribution and you can listen to you stereo anytime and never worry about dead main battery! just my .02 plus you can get 2 batteries cheaper than the yellow top!

+1.

The previous owner to my lude was kind enough to replace most parts with factory OEM, so I have Honda OEM replacement battery........ducky

Without a battery/capacitor you'll be able to hear differences in the system. It'll bump really good for 4-5 mins, then it won't bump very well for a minute or 2, then it's fine for another 4-5mins and so on. With a 2nd battery you'll have consistent power to the system without any disturbances to sound quality.

Re: red or yellow?

Since you got amps and subs then i recommend the Yellow Top. Red to is for Performance purposes like upgraded ignitions and so on. Red will still work but the Yellow will give you more life for your setup hope that helps.

Re: red or yellow?

If you don't wanna get an Optima, just get a capacitor for your amplifier.. I have a 1/2 farad and it stops my lights from dimming.

Re: red or yellow?

Sigh. Look into a marine battery or a AGP battery (odyssey is one) and a decent (about 140amp) alternator. you can get a core from a junkyard and have it re-spun and loaded to 140,150, hell 200amps.

Never have to relocate anything, Odyssey batteries die every 8 years under extreme loads (immortal under regular use) and you need a beefy battery that can withstand draining and charging, especially from a 140+ amp alternator. I run that setup on my suburban, No problem.
