Rusted K&N Air Filter

I just picked up a used RS Akimoto short ram intake, and the K&N filter that came with it has some nasty looking corrosion. It looks to me like a battery leaked acid on it.

Is it still fine to use like that or should I buy a new filter?

Yea I'm sure it's still fine to use, just clean it using k&n's air filter recharge kit

lol that's what I did for now. It looks good besides that part. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't being an idiot for installing it

Yeah, I'll be getting one of those soon. Hopefully it'll get the acid out of the filter material.

Re: Rusted K&N Air Filter

Woah that's pretty bad but it shouldn't make a difference power-wise. I'd just get a new one!

Seriously. Not saying it's cheap but if you think of it this way that it would be better if you bought a fresh one and that it'll last you for years to come!! And then while ur there to buy the recharge kit and you're good!!

Re: Rusted K&N Air Filter

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely just get a new filter soon.

I kind of overpaid for the intake considering a brand new eBay SRI costs about the same as what I paid, and either way I would need a new K&N. Oh well, I guess it's better to not be embarrassed when someone asks about the intake brand
