Heater core help

So, where to start... My name is Ben, and I'm an autoholic... It started when I was a child.... Oh, crap, wrong place... So, I'm looking at getting a 98 Prelude with a sleeved block, forged internals, yada yada... Anyway, the heater went out on him a few weeks ago. He said it blew hot, then started blowing warm, them no heat at all. Still blows air, so blower motor should be good, and it doesn't smell of leaking antifreeze... Any ideas other than a clogged heater core that it might be? I'm new to preludes, but if I remember right, some cars have a diverter valve that opens to let coolant flow to the heater core when you turn on the heat... Does the Lude have one? Any help would be appreciated so I can have more of an idea when I tear into it.

Re: Heater core help

OK, found threads kinda pertaining to this. Hopefully it's just the heater control part...

Re: Heater core help

it just must be clogged. go under then hood and find the hose that goes into the heater core and feel it to make sure its hot. then find the hose that comes back out of the fire wall from the heater core and see if it is the same temp as the one going in or if its just cold or if its warm. pretty much see if there is any temperature difference. you might be able to narrow down your problem from that.
