electrical demons

ok so i'm having a ****ing headache of a time trying to figure out this bull****. my 1991 prelude 2.0Si keeps dying on me. jumps fine and drives solid until the battery starts ****ting out. the alt belt is tensioned tight, and all connections are solid as well as grounds. replaced the battery buss fuse. new battery with better terminals.....and still nothing. it ****ing idled fine in my driveway for 30 minutes?!?!?!?!??!

i'm about to scrap this thing.

any last minute advice before i send it on its way to the boneyard?

Re: electrical demons

take your alternator off and take it to a reputable parts store.
They can "stress test" it and tell you if your diode bank is bad or not.

My blonde head can't remember if a 91 had the circuit link to monitor the Alt output or not.... maybe someone can pitch in here?

WHy trash a wonderful car for a relatively simple fix?

Re: electrical demons

crank your car and while its running disconnect the battery. If it dies its your alternator this way you can test it without taking it out.

Re: electrical demons

yeah i pulled out the del sol to run through the winter and swapped wheels. i think i'll keep the lude and restore it. the front end needs a complete overhaul....the tranny has no 4th or 5th (like i can slide it into each gear while driving without depressing the clutch pedal and no reponse....like the gear doesnt exist. GHOST GEARS!!!! hahahah happy halloween.
