Intake question.

OK. So. I have 5th gen with a cai that goes down behind the front bumper. Unfortunately i have to use the car in the winter. Apparently, having it there, is bad because water and debris can get on the filter. Apparently the engine wont last long with it there. Couple of my friends recommended i cut the pipe, so the filter would be in the engine bay instead of behind the bumper, safe from water and stuff. Do you guys agree with this?

Re: Intake question.

do you have the splash guards on? do you have a quality filter on it? do you submerge it in more than a foot of water? if your answers are yes, yes, no; then youll be fine

Re: Intake question.

If you get lots of rain where you are, I'd recommend just switching to a short air.

Re: Intake question.

if u cut the intake then that would defeat the whole purpose of a CAI. it would be drawing air from your engine bay which is HOT, instead of drawing air from under your fender, which is where cold air flows

Re: Intake question.

I agree wit u on that one sexylude1 but im still worried about the water/debris part. Im pretty sure the intake is AEM(has a sticker on it), and i do have my mud/waterflaps. I never put it in, and i wanna check on it. would i have to remove the bumper for that
