HID's change color under acceleration

So I have 30,000k HID bulbs and under normal driving and spirited they change colors (or temp) usually blue or almost white. I have a couple theories but they probably aren't right, so i thought id come ask the experts.

Re: HID's change color under acceleration

blue/white are lower temp, so technically if your voltage dropped this would cause the temp in the bulb to decrease, changing the color to blue/white. just my guess, but... bad alternator? have it tested out at autozone if you can.

Why the hell do you have 30,000K bulbs? Can you see a damn thing?

Re: HID's change color under acceleration

Motion carried X3. Sure as hell no other driver in front of you or oncoming can see either.

After 12000k, it's basically show lights, with no function. I wish I could tell you its the ballasts, but there's no telling. If there is an relay to the battery, to keep the ignitors working, the alternator is gonna send juice. Proabaly a bad thing. What is the quality of your hid kit?

Xentec is garbage, let me get that out of the way. Back before china had no idea Americans like garbage covered in silly stickers, you could get a kit for 200.00 and they last. Now? I've gone back to halogen, it's too frustrating finding a kit last 6 months.

I've had my Xentec kit for almost a year now with no issues whatsoever

Re: HID's change color under acceleration

Randall if it isn't morimoto or denso, you're on borrowed time. Am I the only one that's seen kits come from 250.00/kit then drop to 40.00/kit? Factory HID is about a 800.00-1200.00 option. Piaa HID is $500-$700. How you get a kit for 100.00? Even mchulloch is suspect and that was my original setup. Then tried xenarcs (they were ok, 1 year before they grounded out), phillps with the yellow sticker fake, the German grey and silver Japanese digitals won't reignite after 3months(unless you give them an hour) and the bulbs blow out even if you use nitrile mechanic gloves to handle them. Did I mention, no one bothers to waterproof their kits anymore?

The hid kits are so damn unregulated, that you're gonna wind up damaging something electrical and important. I'm not telling you guys to swap out what's working for you, I'm saying that I've been in the game since 2004, and seen kits turn to sh!t. Search "best hid ballast" in google and you'll see. What's the point of going HID, of you're swapping more than when you had halogens?

Re: HID's change color under acceleration

LOL. I can see just fine with them. I've experienced 4,000, 5,000, 10,000 and now the ones I have now. Your eyes will adjust and even the ones i have now I think are way better than oem (especially Ford Taurus how does anyone see in that car!) Also I've got the xentec kit.
