Re: oil filter location ????

The engine number itself should tell you what engine it is -- normally stamped on a flat spot in front, near the transmission join, just below the timing port. If it's an H22A4, it should say so in stamped figures about a half-inch tall.

It's also possible someone installed a filter relocation kit. What comes off the oil filter mount -- is there more plumbing that goes down behind the engine, or is it directly mounted to the block?

Re: oil filter location ????

I have a feeling that your buddy has a SH Prelude

The filter is in a different spot on a SH

You can tell if it's a SH by the vin number in the windshield.. If the 8th digit is 5 then it's a SH.. If it's not a SH then I guess he had the filter relocated

Re: oil filter location ????

I have an SH and my oil filter is in that general area. Even if your motor is in an accord it should still have H22A4 stamped on it as jamie described

Re: oil filter location ????

Once you have h22a4 theirs nothing more that would give you info on the oil filter location. Can you jack the car up and get under and take pictures so we can even see what your describing?

Re: oil filter location ????

Can you take a picture from a little further back so I can see what is around it? It looks as though it could be where the SH oil filter is, so lets go over this again, if you are standing at the front of your car looking at your motor is the oil filter in the back right side of your block? If so is there something rather large and interesting looking blocking you from using a ratchet to take off your oil drain bolt?

Re: oil filter location ????

You have an SH block with a modified bracket so that it does not use the ATTS unit.
