quest for power

Hey guys I'm planning on buying a 5th generation Prelude in the next couple months I'm just wondering what I could do to make this car as powerful and fast as possible while still being streetable, I am open to anything engine swap, turbo, n/a, supercharger anything what can I do to make it as fast as possible money is not an issue because I'm willing to save up and wait as long as I have to to make it possible

Re: quest for power

Go have someone install a wet NOS system on your engine.Thats the quick and dirty way to get your power fix.

^^^" your quest is at an end..."^^^ •_•'

If you haven't bought a prelude yet, 97-01 base 5 speed. The most options and no atts to disable. Then the world is yours! FYI, the sh system is useless after 250hp, so if you want a prelude sh, that's your cap.

PLEASE AVOID ANY/ALL AUTOMATICS!

Welcome to the Forum!

Re: quest for power

In my opinion, a H22a swap and suspension upgrade then call it a day.

Good luck with your quest for pow-wah!

Um...5th gens come with the H22. To OP I would say turbo is the best route for you to go, H22's aren't so good for turbo though, so engine swap and turbo. DO YOUR RESEARCH, you will be happy you did, good luck with whatever route you choose and keep us updated

Re: quest for power

lotsa power but streetable huh?....if this is your first car get an I/H/E get used to the car and try not to crash it or kill your self. don't add any crazy wings or body kits to it, it does not make the car faster, contrary to popular low IQ belief. get a feel for the car first it may be 4 cyl but how many 4 bangers do you know putting out 200 HP our cars have the power some V8's did back when they were first developed, so getting RELIABLE power out of these engines is not easy nor cheap. you could get into this thing and the first time you hit 5000 rpm you may shyt your pants lol. anyways im in a talkative mood so yeah just get a quality I/H/E setup and see how you like it,THEN go from there

On a healthy (key word) stock engine u can throw a 50 shot at it safely or a 75 shot. For a 75 shot I would reccomend a direct port setup to help keep the N2O from clotting in cylinder 1. Anything bigger then 75 shot and u will absolutely want direct port. Check out the N2O section theres some good info in there.

How can u say H22 not good for boost? H22's are monsters on boost. BUT it has to be built properly for high boost and TUNING is key. Case in point Bustr. Boosted h22 all day. Do YOUR research so ur not giving out faulty info plz.

Re: quest for power

Just check out 98vtec(yes the one that replied to this thread)'s MR thread, ogsmakedade's MR, Bustr(although he hasn't updated in a while), akaprepreludesh, I could go on and on. Basically….just search around and see what results you see that you like. Most of those guys have Dyno charts in their threads that will show you the type of power that they're putting down. The first thing for you that I would do is Research, Research, RESEARCH And figure out what YOU want to do.

Re: quest for power

thanks guys and no I'm no kid well maybe to some of you I am I'm 21 and I do live with my dad currently because its cheaper but none of his money will go into this at all and that's the way I like it also I have no problem with performance actually I get an odd kick out of it kind of runs in the family I understand performance is not for the street I just want to get the most power I can out of a honda engine so that if I do want to go down to firebird on the weekends I can and I'm open to swapping out the engine from the sounds of it for now I will stick with the h block in the prelude but from there I might go n/a on it but if I can figure out how to turbo an h22a without causing the ever spoken of early ignition it causes due to the increased pressure of an already high pressure engine that would be amazing I'm no idiot when it comes to cars I just don't know how to push performance past just adding the simple bolt ons and I'm pretty new to hondas so I'm trying to figure them out quick but thanks again guys I now have an idea of what to do but I have to ask if you do turbo an h22a what would be required to do so?

Re: quest for power

also I've been researching and I'm kind of reluctant to asking people on forums but the info I have been seeing is mixed or not very useful so I finally came here to ask people that actually have an idea that could give me a good opinion and I'm kind of understanding now also all of my money will be going into this car so this car will be built from paycheck to paycheck I'm determined and want to build a nice lude that I can be proud of since I built it and not some shop that I payed to have do everything on for me so if I do get this going I will be posting here right now its a dream thats 5 months down the line just to get the prelude itself because right now I don't have a car so I kind of need one and thats what I want

so pretty much my money is limited by how long I'm willing to spend paychecks on this car and how patient I am but I know if I do it right the wait will be worth it

Re: quest for power

on a healthy motor you can run about ten lbs of boost on a quality and proper turbo setup.
to do so takes alot of research and knowledge more so if you are not gonna go with forged internals and re-sleeve the block. there is a thread somewhere on here about gettin some boost in that engine

well then find a shell and build a motor thats strong for boost and call it a day/week/month
