Hmotorsonline.com

Best place to buy a motor. If you REALLY want an auto transmission just call the guy at hmo and he will probably sell you a motor without a transmission. He is easy to work with.

One thing to think about though is that the auto transmissions in 5th gens are known to fail easily.

Its only slightly rare. Unless of course you "race" the car all the time on the streets. Then, any transmission, either auto(yes, esp auto) are bound to fail. Autos are a lot more trouble to fix tho because you have to replace the whole thing, rather than just replace a clutch or something like that.

Heck, if he's got a good deal on one, hush. Let the man get what he wants! Beliiiieve me. You can still have a whole lot of fun in an auto lude. Just not with the car shifting But yes….manuals are a heck of a lot more fun.

replacing a whole tranny(auto or manual) is actually easier than replacing a clutch beacuse your doing all the step of removing and putting back the transmission PLUS replacing the clutch which includes a special tools to hold the clutch in place, taking out and putting the bolts carefully and in a sequence so it wont warp and greasing specific spots.

and ps clutch is not part of the transmission.lol
