Not the last clutch problem thread

So my friend and I have been arguing over my clutch the last couple days. It engages high up, meaning its biting right before I release the pedal. He says that my clutch is getting broken in, I say that the clutch has issues.
There are more than one experts here so I need your take this.

The clutch doesn't slip in any gear, but at times it won't go into say 1st or 2nd. Sometimes to get first I have to go from neutral, 2nd, then 1st. Whats up with that?

Yes I searched, yes I looked at the stickies, yes I googled.
On Toyota Nation someone said if it doesn't slip don't f#ck with it, thats all I got out of it LOL.

Thanks guys!

Re: Not the last clutch problem thread

I just did a 5 speed swap from an automatic and installed a brand new clutch kit and lightweight flywheel and my pedal grabs high too. It does not slip at all in any gear, just grabs high. I tried adjusting the push rod on the pedal that goes to the master cylinder, it just made the pedal looser. I got used to it now and feels normal. Your shifting problem may be a totally different issue with the gears inside the tranny.

I work in a dealership on used cars so I drive and work on pretty much every car there is out there. Every 5 speed car I drive, the clutch grabs in a different spot. some grab kinda high, some grab in the middle, and some grab real low. Every car is different. Like last week I worked on a Mazda RX8 six speed and the clutch on that thing grabbed right at the floor as soon as you moved your foot a hair. I almost did a burnout in the parking lot because I was used to mine grabbing high.

Is your gen of prelude cable or hydraulic clutch? If its the cable, like my integra is, you can adjust it via the tranny end of the clutch cable.

Re: Not the last clutch problem thread

The answer is simple. You need to adjust the pedal. It depends on where you Depress the pedal on the bleed. If you open the clutch bleed bolt in the engine bay, slowly press the fluid out, you can adjust the pedal to your desired height. Have your friend lock the bolt and replace the fluid in the resevoir. It takes time to get it right, about 10 minutes with 2 people.
