Should I either get the prelude SH with 275k..

Re: Quick question!!

I would wait for one with lower kms. I have a '99 BB6 with 95'000 kms. Unless the price is too good to pass up. Maintenance history will be important on any vehicle with high mileage.

Re: Quick question!!

Compression test will tell you, and whether you want to go turbo eventually or not (SH is not good for turbo ). I would wait for one with less miles also though.

Re: Quick question!!

if the non sh has only 125,000 miles that isnt a whole lot, is the car in good shape. like keegan said see if u can do a compression test. I would go for the non sh if its a good price.

Re: Quick question!!

the car is in amazing shape, only problem is the guy forgot to remove the rubber around the rear wheelwell so it cause minor minor rust, veeery small amount. They're both about the same price, the non sh is about 400$ cheaper,

Re: Quick question!!

The first 2 years the Prelude had some problems come up. By 1999 the car was fine except for a ignition Key lock recall I think. I say save your money wait and get a 1999 or later model with under 150k miles. Also, unlike the automatic on the 5th gen Prelude, the ATTS has proved to be very effective and durable but on a car with 275k miles anything can go wrong on a complex car like the Prelude. The repairs may hit you hard in the wallet especially if you have to pay someone to replace the clutch in a SH Prelude because mechanics charge more for such a job on a ATTS car.

If I was 16 and had 5000 to spend on a car ,this is what kind of a car I would look for:
1:A car thats cheep to buy.
2:A car thats cheep to maintain.
3:A car thats entertaining but not to the point that it would get my inexperienced ass in trouble.

The car I would be inclined to pick would be a 1999 Civic Si VTEC. The car has a great close ratio 5 speed transmission,a VTEC engine that revs to 8000 rpms, and was the last model of Civic to come from the factory with a double wishbone suspension.Just tuner up, put a set of decent tires on her and she will be good to go.

More info:
Going from 0-60 in 7.2 seconds, the 1999 Civic Si trim featured a 1.6-litre B16A2 engine that made 160 hp (120 kW) at 7,600 RPM and 111 ft-lbs of torque at 7,000 RPM. Sharing a similar power plant to the 1.6-litre Del Sol VTEC, the Civic Si saw some notable differences, which include a larger throttle body, improved intake manifold, strengthened connecting rods, low-friction/high-silicon pistons, a fully counterweighted crankshaft, and an exhaust system with larger piping diameter. Due to its good fuel economy (27/31 city/hwy MPG), independent suspension at all four corners, and a more popular coupe form, the trim garnered a dedicated following in spite of its short production cycle.[11]

Changes from the standard Civic included stiffer, progressive-rate springs, stiffer front and rear anti-roll bars, and a tower brace, which contributed to a flatter-cornering ride. Aesthetic exterior changes from LX/EX models were minimal, with the Si trim featuring a lower-profile and wider 15-inch wheel/tire package, a subtle chin-spoiler, side sills, and Si badging. For the interior, the sixth generation Si had tilt adjustment for the bottom cushion, a standard CD player, sunroof, power windows and door locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, and red-faced instrumentation with Si branding.

He's from Canada.. Soo 275k means 275 kilometers not miles

So the one with 205k about 130,000 miles on it.. Not a new engine but it stll doesn't have too many miles on it..

Check the maintenance records and don't just jump on the first few cars you see.. You might be able to find a better deal/prelude

It took me a while to search down one with low mileage (almost 80000 kilimeter on the odo when I bought it so I think that's around 40-50k miles)

Either way enjoy your heated seats and mirrors! They werent offered here so no one over here really has them.. Except me
