3 prong male for a 5 prong female?

I've been having issues with my car and one of them is the fuel gauge doesn't work correctly, it goes up/down but not correctly with the amount of gas i have, so while checking the wiring on the fuel injector/bobber-thing(the thing that measures the fuel amount) i noticed that the fuel-bobber-thing's wires were corroded at the female-connector and the female connector to the bobber-thing had 5 prongs while the male only had 3. I have a 93' Si, do you all think that maybe the two prongs broke off and that's why its not working or because it's corroded(or both)?

i think you mean the fuel gauge FLOAT

that def sounds like the problem tho, if the wires aren't connected properly.

do you have any pics of it by any chance? so we can really understand the situation?
