Imortance of Warranty on a engine replacement

ok so my 98 prelude broke down on me. basically i need a new engine. one shop is asking 3700 for everything engine/install/labor with 6month warranty. the other shop where my cousin works at is asking 2500 labor and all, however no warranty. what is the importance of having it? is it worth the 1200 difference to get the warranty?

Definitely splurge for the warranty. This will assure you that your taken care of in an event of catastrophic failure or being sold a bad engine. Taking into consideration modding will likely void the warranty if the engine lasts for that six months, imo if you keep up with maintenance and the engine isn't due for maintenance right off that bad then it will last you for it's entire lifespan. It's just for peace of mind you know?

I'd get it, you don't know the abuse the other motor may or may not have taken from its previous life. I like the peace of mind deal!

I say you buy an engine with warranty and then do all the labor yourself. :D

i think most people wish they had the technical mindset and time to get it done this way.
but warranty for sure. nothing like peace of mind
