I've been thinking lately...

So I've thinking lately that I really like the look of 4th gens over my 5th gens. Certain aspects of the cars are just more appealing to me over a 5th. I graduate on June 7th and wanted to sell my 98 base for a 4th gen. I recently had a JDM H22 swap a few months ago totaling about 2k for engine, shipping, other parts, and labor. Would the swap, new wheels and tires (including stock wheels), and JTC SS increase the value of my car if I were to sell it? I live in Harrisburg and bought my car almost a year ago, bone stock, for 5500 with 119k on it. I found a nice looking 4th gen in pretty good condition with 180k on the body and 30k on the motor and tranny. 1995 Prelude I would use the extra money for mods that I can't afford now. Are there any major reliability with 4th gens that I wouldn't experience with my 98 base?
Tell me what you guys think about me selling my 98 base for a 4th gen.
Thanks!

Re: I've been thinking lately...

It kinda comes down to a personal preference. I'm sure the things you've done to your 5th gen will account for something in a sell, as long as the buyer has any type of clue about Preludes. I own a 5th gen , but I really like the look of the 4th gen as well, and test drove both prior to my final purchase. I know, get one of each! Jjk.

Exactly. As it is you own a ten year old car. 4th gens are even older.

And swapping the engine and doing mods always DECREASES the value of a car.

This. You unknowingly signed an agreement that said the value of your car decreases the more you do to it.

Honda's don't hold value well. The second I put my 300$ cat-back on my car I lost 300$ of value probably.

Re: I've been thinking lately...

about this car. I personly wouldnt buy a car that "needs a new". The only way i would do it is if it is cheap or if he is going to pay to put the brand new "whatever" it is in for you.

Well actually Honda's have the highest resell value of any vehicle, except perhaps Toyota, provided of course, that you keep it stock.

Once you start throwing on upgrades, you lose value. I will demonstrate

Your craigslist ad:

Euro R spec intake
TypeSTR engine
JDM trans, exhaust, wheels, tires, seats, lugnuts

What YOU see:

AWESOMESAUCE
AWESOMESAUCE
AWESOMESAUCE

What a person looking at your craigslist ad sees:

Beat the **** out of it
Beat the **** out of it
beat the **** out of it
