Shieking from engine bay

hey guys, I'm having a problem with my h22 and I need help. The problem is that when I rev past 3k I start to hear this high pitched shrieking sound coming from under the hood. And It gets even more louder when I keep reving higher. When I hit vtec, the shreiking noise can heard for more than half a mile away. It only happens when I'm in gear, not neutral. It progresses with the gears, hitting its loudest at 3rd or 4th gear. It's not the belt for P/S or the alt. please help me...
Also it's a Euro R but h22a1 IM.

Re: Shieking from engine bay

A tiny hole somewhere maybe on your air intake that's acting like a reverse whistle ? Or one of the vac lines ? Just throwing that out there, could be totally wrong...

post up a vid or sound clip friend. it could be anything. it could actually be your belt, im leaning toward a pulley. start it up, get it making the noise, take a garden hose and douse the entire engine bay slowly one place at a time.

Re: Shieking from engine bay

then the belt might be TOO tight, or worn. you'll most likely need two people to source the sound.

potentially it could also be a compressor or power steering pump failure.

Re: Shieking from engine bay

It seems to be coming from the IM somewhere. It could be the gasket because I've heard that the h22a1's IM doesn't fit properly on the Euro R. It suppossively uses a different gasket than the Euro R's IM. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I have the Euro R IM sitting in my house but don't have the money to get the adapters needed to make it capatable with obd1. And then there's the money needed to get a proper tune on the dyno. Trying to upload a video but can't seem to find someone who will let me borrow their video camera.
