Chrome vs Polish

I'm just curious about everyones opinion on this. I found this thread about polishing everything here...Polishing everything. Now this looks great but how would this look in comparison to chroming out the same engine parts? Cost wise I'm pretty sure the polish job would be better, but aesthetically and wear and tear wise would there be a big difference?

Re: Chrome vs Polish

you would have to repolish to keep the parts looking nice. and in the engine bay that's a PITA. my strut tower brace, oil cap and radiator are polished and it's a nightmare trying to keep them looking nice.

Re: Chrome vs Polish

OG is right buddy polish is a pain to keep clean and lookin good but cheap. Chrome is sweet and spendie, all just depends how much you want to work on your car i guess lol my intake manifold is polished but i havent had a chance to run around with it yet but it looks good

Thinking about it, polishing everything would be a pain(to process and maintain)...oh well costly chrome it is then.

Re: Chrome vs Polish

I'm new to the polishing bug, so the question may be kinda stupid but here goes...
You cant throw a clear coat over polished parts can you ?

I read up on another forum(I can't remember where at the moment) that Eastwood makes a bare metal clear coat that would work or something called ZoopSeal I think. But after delving deeper into the idea, clear powder coating seems more durable and might last longer. Both need to be kept up on a regular basis though. All in all that kinda makes me wanna do the polish now if I could seal it effectively.

Re: Chrome vs Polish

no doubt... If I was sure it would be just a wipe with a rag type of deal I'd be all over it tomorrow. When I get back home later I'm gonna start reading up on this...
