Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
ATTS is in the tranny and helps with engine output to dampen/ increase torque in turns. from what I understand, its not a limited slip differential. I think the only difference between the SH and Base is spoiler, rims, interior, and ATTS Tranny. I could be wrong, but in my opinion, I would say they would. Don't hold it against me if I'm wrong, wait for another opinion, but if I had to say so, yeah, they'd fit. Unless you have the money to do the complete swap, then do so. If your short on cash, the motor should just fit in and you'd be without ATTs and might have sensor adjustments.

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
Well I have heard the because of the missing ATTS on my tranny, the bolt pattern is not exactly the same or that it doesnt bolt up directly somehow. I guess I just want to know from anyone with experience doing this exact swap, what modifications I would need to do to get them to fit.

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
I really don't think you should get the SH engine + trans to swap into you base prelude. It seems to be a very undesirable swap. I know at the least you'll need the SH axles but the swap might throw you some more problems as well.
I got these from a google search if you care to read them: SH Engine in a Base model - It's a no go SH motor to base model swap, atts HELP! - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
the block will not mount on the base tranny and to get a sh tranny to work will require fabrication.

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
I just put a H23a vtec in my SH prelude, when I took the atts off the the old motor I saw that the bolt patterns was different for the halfshaft on your base because of the atts. The tranny will go on but the halfshaft will not bolt up to anything.. Do yourself a favor and get a base motor for less issues...

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
thanks guys i guess im going with a low mileage JDM base motor. found one for 1250 shipped. supposed to have less than 50k. You guys know anywhere to get a good engine cheaper? and what about this... i found a remanufactured engine with 100,000 mile 5 year warranty for about $2200 shipped. what would you go with if it was your money?

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
What kinda mods should I do to it before dropping it in?

Re: SH bLOCK AND HEAD INTO A base?
not really mods, more preventative maintenance, but i would do all the major seals, timing belt, tensioners, and gaskets.
