first valve adjustment :)

well i'm going to attempt the my first valve adjustment on my '01 base soon.I have watched videos and internet stuff and i recently got the helms manual although i haven't had a chance to look through it much yet.i figure if i mess anything up i have a couple mechanic friends to help me out to fix what ever i do wrong haha. that being said any tips or anything else i need to know that i don't know already? i have all the tools an i know to let the car sit over-night so its stone cold etc.
hopefully it'll go good an reduce that knocking i have!

Re: first valve adjustment :)

Just make sure you start at TDC and make your other turns right on the mark, Its cake. I did my first one a while back, and was weary about doing it, but it doesnt take long at all and its very easy. dont over tighten either. GL

Re: first valve adjustment :)

Usually knocking is from the block not the head so I am guessing it will not help your knocking.

Ditto. If you're experiencing knocking and your mechanic friends suggested a valve job, I wouldn't listen to them. Unless, of course, you mean ticking

Probably into an oil passage. Which will make the car blow up.
