Icon5 How do you smoke tail lights?

Does anybody know how to smoke tail lights? I always see people saying they smoked their lights themselves, but how do they do it? If anybody knows please help me. I love that look!

probably not. if you have a local ricer shop, like a car boutique, you should be able to find it there. otherwise you can order it online for pretty cheep + shipping just google search it. if you have an O'Rilleys auto parts they can special order it for you. it costs more but no shipping. you just go to the store and pick it up. also i believe advance auto and autozone can order it as well. its getting harder and harder to find in stores. some auto parts stores do carry it on the shelves but you have a very slim chance of actually finding it. just call around to some of your local auto parts stores and see if they either have it or can order it.

funny story about that too. i called an O'Rilley's and the guy said they dont have it nor could they order it. i said O'RLY?? then why does orilleys.com say you can order it... so check their sites too to make sure they can order it. so if you call a sales associate and they tell you they cant you can make them look stupid. which is what i love doing most at an auto parts store.

O Rly? I might be getting a job there in a few months. Discount parts for everyone!

Back on subject, if you get that nightshades stuff, be sure to thoroughly clean the tail light or it will come out uneven and all gunked up.

yes, with some alcohol, sand paper, and a little bit of elbow grease.... i would throw some plastix on the lights though if you remove the nightshades.

you can also use model master transparent black window tint for model cars.. available at any hobby store. i did that to my buddies civic and it looked awesome. just sand it down with 600 grit sandpaper then 800 grit and spray. the more you spray it the darker it gets. and you can still see thru it. just do light coats and let them dry 3-4 mins in between.

Yea or if you want to avoid the sandpaper you can pick up some goo gone. I tried using VHT on my emblems to smoke them and didnt work so i poured some goo gone into a small bowl and set both my emblems in there for about 10 min and they were like brand new.

for the tails, if you get some goo gone on a corner of a towel and you can just wipe it tails back to stock.

Thats what my banner is for, locally, i smoke tail lights.

pull out your tail light, clean it and apply light coats of spray on tint, or you can buy window tint, and try that. the spry can be found on ebay for 20 bucks just search spray on tint, and it looks good mine are done that way

dont do film, you have small writing on your tailights and that will cause the film to bubble, my cousin has a 98 lude and he tried that first and same thing happened and you have to stretch the film out alot to make it fit right. Your way better off with the spray.

On top of that, it leaves a sticky residue on it which is a PAIN to get off, and if you don't, dirt sticks to it and it's really nasty looking. Anybody whose ever used Lamin-X knows what I'm talking about.

if you know somebody who paints cars then you can get them to do it for you, they just put a few drops of black paint into clear coat and spray that onto the lights so it is just as even and as hard to scratch as the clear coat over your paint

thats rediculously expensive though, people pay me $60 to smoke their tails because A) they dont want to mess their lights up trying it themselves and B) they dont feel like paying an auto painter to do that.

its really not bad if you take your time and know what your doing
