Re: steering wheel shaking

Does is always shake or only when you push the brakes?

Re: steering wheel shaking

From previous experience I know that out of balance wheels and tires or a bent wheel can cause this problem. Alignment couldn't hurt either. Then again that is with the steering wheel shaking while not under braking.

Re: steering wheel shaking

Could also be a warped rotor. Is it only when your breaking to a stop? or just when your going fast?

Re: steering wheel shaking

x2 on the out of balance wheels, probably what you're feeling is the front wheels, but the rear wheels could be out of balance as well, but everything people have said on here is a possibility as well, give it a good look over, good luck man

Re: steering wheel shaking

If it is only when driving, gets worse with speed, and doesn't change when braking, it is your wheels tires. Could be broken belt in tire, bent rims, loose lug nuts. Could also be CV shafts depending on the shake/noise associated with it?

If it is when you apply the brakes at higher speed then your brake rotors are warped.

Re: steering wheel shaking

it doesnt shake when i break. it just starts shaking when i reach 100kph and up. my guess is the tires need balancing. im getting an out of province inspection done sometime this week and it usually comes with free balancing and if its not that hopefully they find the propblem. i just checked the lug nuts and theyre just tight enough and brakes are also good.

thanks for the replies guys

Re: steering wheel shaking

if you got new rims recently they could have forgotten to put the hub centric rings in. Ask the ppl who are aligning your wheels if there missing hub centric rings. ( my steering wheel used to shake around the 100 mark, and a set of 4 rings cost me 40 bucks (from the rim manufacturer) and they solved the problem)

Re: steering wheel shaking

hey i dont really know if this applies to hondas but my friends chevy had the same problem. it turns out that the wheel bearings just needed to be re-greased. you can check this by jacking up one of the front tires and seeing if it wobbles back and forth.
