Keep blowing foglight fuse

Any suggestions on why/how i keep blowing my foglight fuse. i am currently running H3 HID bulbs w/ballast in my JDM foglights. I have the system hooked up properly, so I think, with the provided relay and small 15 fuse. When I am running them for about 5 minutes, the fuse blows. any ideas or suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

15 Amp fuses? Sounds too small for me. I bet they are hot as heck when they "blow" to huh?

I am Positive your are pulling more than 15A through your fog lights. The general rule is +10% over your rated draw.

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

alright, thanks. They are mini fuses and 15A is what came with the kit, I didn't even bother to check. I'll try and find some larger "mini fuses". do you think a 25A would be big enough?

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

Why don't you look on the fuse box cover. Locate "foglights" and see what amperage said fuse is rated for?

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

there is a seperate fuse in line on the harness, before the relay. That is the fuse that keeps blowing. I just switched to a 20A fuse (that's all I had), so I'll find out if that is big enough. I'll look into the factory fuse box rating too (even though that is not the fuse that is blowing). like I said, it is a mini fuse, so I'm also unsure of availability of Amps.

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

How are your fog's doing? Did that 25a fuse do the trick? I'm having the same issue.

Re: Keep blowing foglight fuse

woh there people. 15 amp fuse should be sufficient, if you keep blowing fuses their more then likely is a short. putting in a bigger fuse can cause a fire to start, and no-one wants a burned out prelude. do a draw test.

at some point im going to do a piece on electrical diag.

till then be smart when it comes to electrical
