Car radomly shuts off?!

So i was driving the other day going about 60mph and my car randomly died, then another time a few days ago the same thing happened but this time i was accelerating, i don't know if accelerating has anything to do with it but does anyone have an idea whats wrong?

Oh, and when this happened i could just push in the clutch and start it again without stopping, and it was fine for the rest of the day.

No, it just happened to me again though. It seems to be something electrical because my car doesn't bog down or anything when it happens

Re: Car radomly shuts off?!

LOL , the preludes have a recall in the ignition. this is a common problem and happened to me about 3 weeks ago. Google recalls for preludes and your year car. should pop up with two different recalls dealing with the ignition. bring it to the honda dealership and they will cover it free of charge. If they say that the vehical has been serviced already just raise some hell and say well its still messing up. This is what I had to do. The only other problem that you might see is your ignition cylinder not wanting to turn which is what happened to me after I got recalls fixed so I had to buy a whole new ignition cylinder for $200.

Re: Car radomly shuts off?!

i agree probably the ign switch, not all hondas were recalled either, only certain ones, and they will be able to tell by your VIN. if the work has been done previously they won't fix it again, recalls are usually only good once.

Re: Car radomly shuts off?!

yeah thats true its only on certain cars, but if its been fixed already from a prev owner I wouldnt say you are out of luck. You just have to talk to them and you may get lucky you may not. I had gotten lucky and had a cool guy help me out.

check ur sparkplug wires and spark plugs along with the coil.. check the fuses too.. i had a problem like this a few months back driving on the highway going about 60 and it shut off all the lights on the dash came up.. i put it in neutral and got over to the side of the road.. my external coil wires were frayed check ur distributor cap too just make sure everything is hooked up.

Re: Car radomly shuts off?!

Ya I changed out the a wiring harness that came off the key cylinder. It was about a foot long and the guy at honda told me that usually is what goes out but it did not fix my problem so I guess I go in again and see about those recalls
