Icon8 97 prelude wont start!!!!

i live in ****in canada(worst place to live in)enough said past month its been below minus 30 and **** and my preludes been sitting in the driveway ever since we got over 20 cenimeters of snow in one night but now its slowly warming up so the other day i tried starting it and it sounds like it wants to start im not sure what you guys call it i think engine turn over but its not making a clickinng noise so i kow its not the battery or whatever. i tried giving it a boost that didnt work all the lights come on just the car wont start and every day it gets closer to starting. i dont know might be the engine is frozen but just curious cause ive been trying to start it for the past couple of days and still nothing. the cars a 97 honda prelude vtech it does have gas it has oil but the car does burn alot of oil and like a month ago i put this honey oil **** in the engine to prevent it from bruning oil that could be another possibilty that **** is so thick maybe its frozen in the engine

Re: 97 prelude wont start!!!!

my car did the same thing, your fuel lines might be frozen that would probably be the only reason it wouldnt start because unless you were driving it your fuel pump shouldnt have went out and your timing belt should be fine (mine went out like 2 months ago and the cars still in the shop, my whole engine is warped from it fml), if its your fuel line you should bleed them, there should be a diy somewhere on the website but, if it is your fuel lines are froze(means you got water in there from somewhere) you might want to replace them along with your fuel filter if you got some extra money

Re: 97 prelude wont start!!!!

Could be your fuel lines but a bettery is still a very possible issue. A battery can have a small enough charge to turn the engine over but not enough to actually get it running.
If its that cold a easy thing to do would be take your battery inside let it warm up and then put back on and try to start it again.

Re: 97 prelude wont start!!!!

Depends on how cold your battery got. Unless its a dry cell (still affected by the cold just less so) severe cold will limit the full output of your battery. How old is your battery?
To boot its a free check/fix :)

Re: 97 prelude wont start!!!!

think i have the same issue but in my case I can't seem to hear the pump run. If only the lines are frozen,is there a chance that the pump too is frozen? i've been searching different maintenance information but I cant seem to find a way to get my vehicle up and running again.

Re: 97 prelude wont start!!!!

sounds like battery....light will come on but just not enough power to start a extremely cold engine..
