Icon5 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

Ive done about as much research on trying to figure this out that i can stand so I figured I would just ask!

I have a '01 lude and just installed the LED Projector lights in place of the stock

Im sure you've all seen them since there are only a few options as far as headlight replacement goes.. Now ive got the lights in, went in just fine with no problems.. Did have a problem with the dumb company sending me the wrong size HID bulb, so currently working that out with them to get the right bulbs in there..

My problem is the LED running lights on the sides of the projector light, I know the add said "professional installation only" and blah blah blah, but it really shouldnt be that hard to get em working..

When i first looked at the casing theres a slot where the daytime light fits perfectly, but always 2 wires comming out of the assembly.. (Red and Black)
So I'm assuming that i need to splice the wires and connect them from the daytime lights to the 2 wires comming out of the casing, but theres only one problem.. Theres 3 wires going into the daytime running light assembly to the bulb and im just not sure what to make of it, even if the wires were spliced and power was given to those wires then the actual bulb part would be left wide open (which in my mind is bad because of the possibility of water or humidity getting inside of it..

Last thing is that at the end of the two wires theres an adapter that plugs into something, but i couldnt find a reasonable way to make this work and I wanted to ask before i start tearing things up and experimenting and see if anyone has had the same problem in the past or could point me in the right direction!

Heres a picture of the back.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

those both look like they'd plug into the stock connecters.. just saying have you trying putting the halo plug in the bulb socket? looks like thats where it goes.

Re: 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

So your saying take the bulb out and it should fit right in there?

I guess i really didnt think of that, thought you would pull out the bulb little assembly and go from there, but im gonna walk out there right now and try that!

thanks!

Re: 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

That was def the most easy install ive ever done, was a quick plug and play kinda deal, and they look amazing and evil at the same time :P

I was planning on taking pictures when i got back from dropping someone off and ran into a new problem.. Car overheated, or tried and had to pull off the road and saw anti-freeze all over the engine bay.. so its like taking a small step forward and huge leap backwards lol

Hopefully its something simple to fix, it hasnt had any problems running hot at all, its a stock prelude with just the lights and intake.. so Gotta check it out hopefully tom and figure something out.. I will get some pics up though, cause the headlights seemed to totally change the car's look... was super happy they hooked right up

Any insight for overheating would be much appreciated as for what to look for or what can go out to cause that..

although im not a huge fan of chrome lights, i have to say those look pretty awesome, i had to go with black though, cars already bright enough as it is lol

Drove it about 12 miles back home today with no temp problems.. Friend said could be the radiator cap doesnt have a good seal on it, guess im just going to have to do some trial and error till i figure it out..

Heres some pics though, they look great, camera kinda sucks as far as capturing the "blue" of the LEDs, but still looks cool pulling up behind someone lol

Re: 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

Oh and you can get the lights off of ebay for a fairly good price, install is pretty easy (other than having to remove the whole front bumper :P ) Just gotta watch for the clips!

If you put in your year make and model and look around for headlight casings you should be able to find it pretty easily.. It wasnt a hard choice for me because the only other casing i saw on there had two angel eyes and just looked funky, but to each is own :P

well how is the "projector" part of the headlights? is it anything like a realy HID projector? and do you have HID's installed in yours. I know nothing beats a true retrofit for the projector but i dont have that much money to spend.

Re: 5th Gen projector casing, LED question

Well from what ive researched and what i've learned about this HID conversion is that you can always just throw a set of HID bulbs in your stock headlight housing, but from what i understand, those are the lights that tend to blind people as your driving (which im sure everyone is familiar with).. So when you look at the difference between an actual projector lense and a stock light housing you can kinda understand what i mean..

The projector lense is the fish eye looking lense which (dont quote me) is MADE for housing the actual HID bulbs.. So pretty much my understanding of it is that those fish eye lenses direct the light in a completely different way than say any set of stock non HID headlights.. The angel eyes and LED running lights just come with the new casing and i paid around 300 total for both new black out headlight casings and for the HID bulbs, ballasts' and wires and all!

I dont have the bulbs in right now, the company sent me H11 bulbs instead of H1 (california stoners ) So i had to send them back to get the right ones.. But as far as i know the projector lense projects the light in a certain way, and the stock lights use back lit reflection as far as projecting the lights..

This is a stock JDM blackout of stock lights, and you can tell the difference as far as where the bulb goes in, compared to what i just bought with the extra fish eye lense

And these were the other set i was talking about, I used to be a fan of the angel eyes a few years ago, but i just wanted something different, these are still great looking though, all for a decent price from 120-140ish

Anyone feel free to correct me on the HID lense theory, and also they have chromed versions of both headlights like jamespg81 has.. Hope this helps
