HID headlight conversion

okay, maybe I'm overthinking this...how do I install these new ballasts I received with my HID kit? do I plug the old from the H1 bulb into the ballast for power? here is a pic of the stock HL harness and the new ballast plug. new one is on the left. do I need a conversion harness or can I just splice the wires and plug them into the new conector. thanks

Re: HID headlight conversion

You can either splice a 9006 connector onto your old harness, or get an adapter harness.

Re: HID headlight conversion

alright, well I have them hooked up now and only the passenger side will light up. the other side will just flicker for a bit and shut down...I know the bulb is good because I tried it on the other ballast. could I have a bad ballast? any troubleshooting ideas?

Re: HID headlight conversion

switch the ballast out and see if theres an issue w it? Um, i just bought some on mine and it came with a red and black wire that you stick in to the sockets of where your stock bulbs connected to. red w red, blk w blk. For some reason my H1 bulbs dont arent supported by the locking pin. maybe put a washer in there? do you have that prob?

Re: HID headlight conversion

if none of that works try flipping the ballast over. My prelude has what they call reverse polarity. Basically just means flip the ballast upside down and try it that way haha. Sounds crazy but thats how my car is. check out DDMtuning.com. thats where i bought mine. They have a good troubleshooting/support guide. It'll better explain (with pix) what im sayin haha. Good luck

I HAD that problem too. i took out the headlights, had some metal washer type things that fit perfectly. I also bent that locking pin until it worked.

Alrighty...just went out for another look and BAM! found the problem, after trying the already mentioned. It was just a fuse...changed it out and now they're working perfectly!
