vtec controller

What do you guys think about vtec controllers are they any good or just a waste of money and time?

they're good if you have a basic setup like IHE. outside of that, like once you get to internals or boost you're much better off and safer off with a real tune with an obd1

The likes of an APexi VAFC/VAFC II can really only benifit you if you've already done the basic I/H/E mods. Otherwise there's not really any point.

Honda set the VTEC crossover point at about 5100RPM because that's where the two torque graphs cross over. This is also how a VAFC is tuned, they do one dyno run with VTEC off altogether, then another with it on from about 1000RPM. Where the two torque curves cross is where the VTEC changeover point needs to be.

But as Drew said, for a basic I/H/E setup they're great, but if you plan on going big power later on, don't spend the money now.

if you have the basic i/h/e pully mods then go for it. Make sure when you get it tuned there isn't a dip when vtec kicks in and you'll be good to go.
