Strut Bar difference /

Looking around for a strut bar and....question: is there a difference between the $20 ebay strut bar, compared to the $100 tanabe strut bar ?

Re: Strut Bar difference /

One pieces seem to be the stiffest and most rigid (which is what you want in a strut bar). Neuspeed seems to be the most popular choice. And yes, there is a difference. Those $20 adjustable ones don't do much except add weight. Stick to the reputable companies like Neuspeed, Tanabe, Spoon, etc.

Re: Strut Bar difference /

ya, id imagine theres a differance. ebay ones are pretty much for looks. i have a megan one on now, and i can honestly say it did do a TINY bit to improve driving. im going to upgrade to an explicit speed one this winter though

Re: Strut Bar difference /

I used to have the Megan one on my old BB1 (it came on the car but I couldn't tell if you it really changed anything). I have a Spoon strut bar waiting to go on my BB2 and I imagine it'll be better than the crappy megan unit. Someday I'll splurge and get an ESP or Neuspeed unit and see how much better they actually are.

Re: Strut Bar difference /

Don't buy anything with a hinge or a turnbuckle like stated above. Those two types don't do much if anything for stiffening the chassis. Explicit Speed makes the best bars by far.

ESP and Neuspeed make the best ones IMO. I would personally go with neuspeed over ESP.

Re: Strut Bar difference /

I have the neuspeed bar. The day I got it I went out and took this big corner near my house at about 55~ mph and I could hear the tires starting to slide a little. Went home, put the bar on, and took it at closer to 65 mph with no sound from the tires, just stuck all the way around.

You can feel a difference with the solid bars.

Maybe for looks? The Explicit bar has one more connecting point on both sides and more surface area connecting it with the car, it's also a straight across design leaving no room for flex or movement.

Re: Strut Bar difference /

Summit always has pretty good prices. You can probably find it for cheaper elsewhere if you're willing to look. If you don't mind buying used, you can probably get one for real cheap on a forum or E-Bay. Just do your research on the seller.

I would stay way from those companies when looking into strut bars. Like said before, Neuspeed/ESP are probably the best 2 on the market.

Re: Strut Bar difference /

Anyone know where I can pick up a strut bar for a 4th gen 93' SI 4ws lude?
I purchased one on ebay, and though it says it fits.. it didn't!
The bar is too long! Even if I adjust the end nuts all the way in the bar doesn't fit.
Here is the link for the bar I bought:
Yeah I bought a cheap one, but for now I am limited and I was wanting to also dress my bay up.

Anyone have some good priced upper front strut bar resources that for sure will fit my lude? Thanks!

I am still working on the car and hope to post some pics soon.. right now have to change the starter (original starter -almost 20years old on 202K miles.

Anyone got some good sources for upper front strut bar that you know for sure will fit my 93 honda prelude SI 4WS? I bought a cheap one on Ebay and though it said it would fit.. it didn't. Too long. I am looking for a cheap strut bar as it's mainly for engine dress and some stability. I am not a street racer so I don't need the name brand stuff.
Si Speed - your link doesn't go to a site. Looks dead link / site.
Thanks

Everywhere I looked, it didn't beat the price for esp. So I'm most likely going with esp. I do like the look of the neuspeed better though, but it isn't worth an additional $40
