Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
Yea it's really annoying. Assuming this is pretty much top of the line autostarter/alarm. It'd be a good autostarter but the procedures and things required to allow the remote start to work is annoying. No way to bypass?!?

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
lol your guy set it up to an OEM standard. I know if i wanted the OEM remote starter in my car, anytime i opened the door if i remote started it, it would turn it off.
My old lude had a 5901, like nick said all i had to do as well was put it in neutral, it seems likes the shop you took it to was trying to save there asses from a lawsuit just in case anything happened.... |

So they pretty much have to install it like an automatic car. Is that correct? Last edited by andrewcjduong; 11-04-2010 at 12:50 AM. |

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
That's really scary guys! If someone actually installed it that way I wouldn't return to that shop due to lack of ethics. I've installed many remote starts in manuals and to do it RIGHT, not okay or acceptable but RIGHT. There NEEDS to be a manual safety sequence. For our AstroStarts 2 park brakes, turn ign off, get out, shut door. Car shuts off. Crunch wrap supreme..good to go. Open a door..no start. IF you need to get into the car, remote start it, get in do your business close 'er up. Shut it down from the remote. That simple.

Just tried it out and that method works fine. The "start the car to grab your thing" Is a better solution then having to unlock, get in, grab stuff, start car, drop ebrake, press release brake, press brake, pull ebrake, push button, walk out, lock. Thanks! |

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
You bet man. And please don't change that. No disrespect to nick or itdj but that's a poooorly installed remote start.

mehh, i didn't do the install (since everyone knows i suckkk at electrical work ![]() but after reading the sequence the OP has to do every single time......... i'd much prefer my setup than his. plus i did a clutch kill switch in my car like 4 years ago, so if i didn't flip the switch... car no start. it was completely separate from the alarm/remote start.

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
Im not a big fan of Vipers method. Mine has a few different ways to program it (another reasnn AstroStart>Viper) so for me neutral, park brake. Done. Get out close door car shuts down. People look at you like your driving Kit

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
I bought the car that way when i had it so no offence to me..
no remote start on the evo tho......wack |

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
Ive noticed my car doesn't remote start sometimes. It'll try and keep starting but won't actually start. Then when I go into my car and start it, it works fine.

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
Sounds like a transponder issue. Try and watch through the window and see if the security key light comes on. If you just purchased it take it back to the shop. Sometimes things like that can happen.

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
What i ment was the car actually attempts to turn on and you hear the engine but it doesn't actually get to the idle point. But when I step in my car and turn it on with my key, it goes into idle right way

||||
Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
That exactly describes a transponder bypass issue. Shop should cover you.

Yup. Life time warranty on labor. I'll book an appointment and see what they say.

Re: Viper 5901 Manual Transmission
Here's a test for your own price of mind and furthering of your knowledge. Set up the car for remote start but stay in it when you shut it down. Place the key in the ignition and remote start. If it starts like it should then its a transponder issue. If not, problem else where. The shop will get you squared away.
