Icon1 Just picked up a prelude

Hey all,

Just picked up a 1986 prelude and the front headlights are stuck in the up position. Any idea how to fix this?? I'm new to the car, so all insight would be helpful. Especially if someone here has an 86 as well!

Re: Just picked up a prelude

Well, if you can't fix it with a hammer, then it's an electrical problem.

Siiiigh...I assumed it was probably an electrical problem - just was wondering if anyone had any idea of fixes that could cause it :)

Re: Just picked up a prelude

lol, that was a joke I picked up from one of my instructors from school.

I don't really know much about the flip up lights, although I remember my buddies dad (old school guy) saying something about how in winter snow gets caught in the lights when they drive and when they get home and flip them down then they get rusted shut, or open. So it could still possibly be a mechanical problem.

Anyway, I don't know if this is safe to do, but maybe try opening them manually to see if they aren't stuck. If they open fine by hand, check fuses and relays, its easy enough.

*edit: Do you hear any noises when you try to turn them on? Mechanical buzzing or humming? If not it prolly means the motors that open them aren't getting power. So once again, check your fuses and relays.
