"Chirped" into second gear

I drive a bb2 and it seems as if everytime I quick shift into 2nd (even if it's not at redline) I'll hear the tires chirp.
What's the cause of this and is it good or bad?
I'm just curious.

Re: "Chirped" into second gear

Yeahh, I also have new tires.
Moding wise; stage 1 clutch, light weight flywheel, short shifter, weighted shiftknob, intake and springs. But even before all that, I would chirp 2nd.
Hmm, chirping 3rd, that'll be an achievement. haha
So is it good? &what's the explanation behind it?

Re: "Chirped" into second gear

Is it good? That depends on you - personally, I think it shows that you are yet to learn how to shift smoothly and quickly.
In principle and in practice it's exactly the same as when you give the engine a rev and pop the clutch in 1st. Most people call this a burnout. Chirping 2nd is exactly the same, with the notable and obvious exception of the fact that you're in second gear, not first.
