Complete Front end swap?

Hello all. I have a 92Si with a h23a1 blown motor. I also have a chance to purchase a 93 with a vtec motor. My question is can I remove the whole front drive train and lift the car off the motor and drive train? Then jsut put the other cars drivetrain and engine back in the same way? Thanks for any response.

Re: Complete Front end swap?

I heard somewhere along time ago about being able to remove the whole drive train and front axels complete by just removing all the frame bolts. I can't remeber if it was honda or another import. The reason that I want to do this is I beleive I have something bent underneath and I need a new motor anyway. I thought maybe someone on here would know for sure. Thanks for any help

Re: Complete Front end swap?

I know you can do such with the Camaros and other domestic vehicles. I'm leaning toward no on the dropping of the subframe and drivetrain as one assembly. I've been wrong before, though.

Ya I don't think its the sub frame you remove. Just all the cross frames and motor mounts. (6 Bolts) and of course the struts. I was just hoping someone here had done this before so I can find out if its possible before I decide to go about trying it.

Re: Complete Front end swap?

You would also have to disconnect the upper and lower control arms, if you panned on leaving the CV axles in the hubs while doing this.

just to chime in ,yes can switch everything ,remember to align the steering and remove the air bag switch ,and the disconnect the steering shaft joint and disconnect the power steering line at rack, and also remove the strut and disconnect the abs connectors, the whole sub frame assembly comes down with the axles, tranny ,motor ,.good luck hit me back for more information .

Re: Complete Front end swap?

i think it would be so much simpler to remove a couple hundred pounds of engine and transmission than lift a few thousand of a car

lol I believe there is damage under the car. The bottom of my right front tire is cambered in quite a bit. But I better clarify...This car is actually a stock car. I race it on an oval dirt track. It has been rolled onto its side which has in my opinon caused some front suspension damage under the car. Since the motor is already done and has to be removed and I have possibly a complete other car to use I thought I would find out if I can go this route.
