my first prelude

i have a 2000 prelude i just bought. i need to get a motor rebuild because rings are bad and burns oil. the last owner git a deer at 50 so i also need left headlight fenders and body kit. just ordered hood hinges because they are broken, hoping they get here soon. here are some pics i took a few days ago. what is a good place to go to for body kits and fenders?

Re: my first prelude

do us all a favor and buy everything OEM .. stock front and rear bumper, stock side skirts, stock hood, stock fenders, refinish those headlights, get rid of the blue wipers and get some normal black ones. Also while you're at it swap out those "m3" mirrors and get stock.
Buy everything from the Honda dealer or source it out locally, but buy OEM .. that body kit and hood look hideous and do not belong on a Prelude.

Re: my first prelude

i was going to do oem but the **** is way to expensive compared to aftermarket parts. but i will agree with you the windshield wipers are ****ing ugly. i do like a body kit better than stock though.

Re: my first prelude

i say you should take off the rear bumper the hood and fenders and sell them and get oem parts if you need new engine then its not like if you dont have the parts for awhile that its goin to matter

but its your car so do what you like with it. although i can tell you the general view on here is going to be to lose the body kit and go oem. personally i think it all looks like crap compared to a stock prelude. the fenders and the hood are just awful. the rear bumper looks like it was made for dual exhaust too. please for the sake of all preludes just put some stock parts back on it

i would have no problem going stock if the parts weren't twice as much as aftermarket.

Part outs. Craigslist. E-Bay. Keystone. There are plenty of ways to source OEM parts for cheap. Please don't ruin one of the most beautiful coupes Honda ever produced.

Re: my first prelude

at the end of the day it's still his choice on what he wants with his lude.
Do basically all body kits look hideous on preludes? yeah, but it's not impossible that maybe one or two people do like them lol.

Completely understand with the money situation, but just search around on the forums, ebay, locally, c-list, etc and you'll find some good deals.

Re: my first prelude

I don't understand why everyone jumps on the body kit. If you don't like it, don't look. It's all personal preference. If you like body kits, stick with a body kit. Everyone hates on my car because I have one. They don't ever bother to ask why though. All I hear all day is, "Buy OEM, it's not expensive if you sell your stuff." Being realistic, it's much harder than you guys really think. Next time you feel like posting just to say, "BUY OEM," consider that the person probably doesn't give a **** if you're hating on his/her style.

he said he would like oem but its too expensive so most of us telling him check online junk yards part outs etc, guarantee you can find most the body cheaper that way

Re: my first prelude

How about a replica Mugen body kit? Would probably still have to buy an OEM rear bumper, but that **** could look nice. I don't really mind the fenders or the mirrors, but that hood is killing me! Is it just a cut up OEM hood?
