might bore my cylinders

I think I have a crack in one of my cylinders. If that's the case I'm going to bore my cylinders and get bigger pistons, I was thinking 20 over what do yall think?

Re: might bore my cylinders

If you have a crack in your cylinder wall I would have the block sleeved. I wouldn't trust just boring over. You don't know how far/deep the crack goes, and there is no real way in finding out. But if you do want to risk it, I would go atleast .30 over....

Re: might bore my cylinders

If I sleeve it wow much do you think that would run me? And if I get it sleeved do I still have to bore it?

Re: might bore my cylinders

You're looking at anywhere between $1200-1700, maybe less if you have a connection. That's for the good places like Golden Eagle, AEBS, etc.

Re: might bore my cylinders

Damn I don't have that kind of money right now, plus I would have to get pistons. Does anyone know how much it would cost to just bore it? Prob going to do 30 over now

Re: might bore my cylinders

Ummmmmmmm... idk man. I honestly would look for a spare motor then if you aren't gonna sleeve before boring, I mean I have heard of dudes going .5 over on average just to make sure the cylinder walls are fresh, but its up to you.

Re: might bore my cylinders

Never seen 30 over pistons. Most are 20 or 40. Anyway, why do you think you have a cracked cylinder? Have you got it apart and you can actually see it?

Re: might bore my cylinders

my cylinders are 20 over, with raised comp and nitrous its doing fine
have you had a chance to mic the damage.
until then you wont know what you can do.....
the shop out here thats re-sleeving my b18c quoted me 100 bucks a hole to pound out the frm sleeves and input standard ductiles.
comparable to what you find in the b series blocks
just look around you dont always have to "dart" it standard iron sleeves will hold
pretty much everything u can throw at them with a fair tune!
